About Dawlish Warren Life Saving Club...
Dawlish Warren Life Saving Club was first formed in 1966, after a speight of incidents including lives being lost in the sea off Dawlish Warren.
We are now fast approaching our 45th Season and have a proud history both on the beach and in competing in life saving sport.
We are affiliated with the Surf Life Saving Association of Great Britain (SLSGB), both our sports and life saving National Governing Body. For more information on SLSGB please see our links page and visit their website for more information.
Soon after our formation, in 1969, the Local Authority, Teignbridge District Council (TDC) started employing paid professional Lifeguards to patrol the beach over the busy summer months. Ever since then our club members have worked with the council voluntarily and as professional employees for them. During this time we have amassed a great deal of operational experience and are proud to have worked with Lifeguards from all over the uk and the rest of the world. We are have also retained some of the founding members of the club to this day. Including John Tanner, our Club President.
We moved into our current clubhouse building in 1977 and its still going strong, even after being moved accross the road to make way for the new Warren Trading development.
