Dawlish Warren Life Saving Club is currently taking applications to fill our 2010 Nipper Training programme.  

What is a Nipper? A Nipper is a junior life saver aged between 7 and 13 years.

 Activities include beach games, swimming, beach running and beach flags, paddleboards, wadding, life saving skills, what to do in an emergency, how to help others and keep ourselves and friends safe in the beach environment.

Our emphasis is on promoting a healthy lifestyle, having fun and keeping safe!

The Nippers will be running on saturdays throughout the Summer Holidays, there will be an induction session during the easter half term.

The cost of the Nipper Programme will be £55 per child, this includes a Dawlish Warren Nipper T-Shirt, Club and Surf Life Saving Great Britain Membership, Insurance, your National Surf Award and all the beach sessions.  Our Instructors are all volunteers and all monies raised go toward new equipment, repairs and qualifications.

Skills and equipment requirments:-

Nippers need to be enthusiastic and love the beach and water, swimming skills can be improved over time but some swimming ability is necessary.

The Sea will be chilly even in summer and a wetsuit is a must have, to make the most of the time and  have fun in the water.

The beach has stones, shells and other sharp objects, so we require our Nippers to wear wetsuit boots/shoes or something similar to protect our feet.

Life Saving is a fantastic sport/life skill with potential for great rewards.  Sporting events are an annual event both indoor and out on the beach and in the sea.
