Drawing on skills used in rescues and coastal operations, surf lifesaving competitions challenge athletes across a range of disciplines.
Competitions bring together a mix of beach and ocean disciplines, including:
Beach sprints and beach flags
Surf swimming and run-swim-run events
Board and ski racing
IRB racing
Rescue events using tubes and boards
Oceanman and Oceanwoman endurance events
Pool-based rescue events over the winter
To take part in SLSGB competitions you need to:
Be a current SLSGB member
Hold the relevant SLSGB competency awards for the disciplines you want to enter, for example surf swim and board competencies. Our coaches will guide you through which awards you need and help you work towards them
Be entered by DWLSC; entries are made by the club's team manager, not individually
You don't need to be an elite athlete. Many of our members compete for the experience, the friendships and a day out at the beach with the club.
