Our Masters group welcomes members aged 30+ who want to stay fit, maintain their lifesaving skills, and enjoy the social side of training. Many of our Masters have been with our club for years, some for decades. We welcome newcomers who are looking for a sociable way to keep active in and around the water.
Open water swimming and fitness training
Maintaining and refreshing lifesaving and rescue skills, including the SLSGB Surf Lifeguard award and related qualifications where members wish to pursue them
Social and competitive opportunities, including Masters-category lifesaving sport events and the club's summer surf lifesaving demonstrations
Mentoring and supporting younger members and coaches
Outside of beach lifeguard training courses, we undertake dry-side and sea-based fitness training, sea swimming, board skills, competition training and even Inshore Rescue Boat training all year round
In addition to the Surf Lifeguard award, SLSGB offers various other qualifications that you can attain at the club, including:
SLSGB Inshore Rescue/Safety Boat Crew and Coxswain
SLSGB First Responder
SLSGB Surf Lifesaver
SLSGB Tube Rescuer
SLSGB Rescue Board Paddler
Masters training is every Sunday from 10:00 to 12:30 and Tuesdays from 18:00 to 19:00. We have changing rooms in the club but they get crowded quickly so either arrive early or arrive in wetsuits ready to go!
You should bring:
Swimming costume/trunks
Wetsuit (boots, gloves and hood recommended when cold)
Towel
Sun cream
Warm layer for after the session
Contact the Senior/Master Training Officer Matt Wyon Brown at: seniors@dwlsc.co.uk to register your interest.
